Meditation and Massage
Meditation and massage have been closely linked for thousands of years. The blissful feeling of total relaxation after a great massage is as much in the mind as in the body. Therefore a massage without an element of meditation is a missed opportunity. So, first, let’s look at a basic meditation to prepare your mind for the massage bed. Your Tantric Collective masseuse can guide you in a meditation similar to this at the beginning of your session.
How Can Meditation Improve Tantric Massage?
Allowing yourself to be open in the hands of another is key to a truly powerful sensual massage. One of the essential elements of tantra is the dynamic between the giver and the receiver. The masseuse will give her sensuality and energy to you without considering reciprocation. As the receiver, you must accept this gift and remain completely passive. Allow the sensations to wash over you like you allow your thoughts to come and go during the meditation. The more you allow your body and mind to remain still and silent, the more powerful the massage will become.
If body and mind are aligned correctly, you can achieve what some clients describe as an ‘out-of-body experience’. Perhaps a better expression would be ‘out of mind’ as this is the real breakthrough when meditation and massage combine.
A Sample Guided Meditation
Centre yourself and find your breath. Sitting in an upright position, slowly close your eyes. Relax your face, your jaw, your tongue. Notice your breath. Watch your breath flow in and out without thought or judgement.
Now take ten deep breaths. As you breathe in, notice your lungs fill with air, and you feel yourself breathing in positivity and love. Breathe out, observe as your lungs empty, exhale negativity and repeat.
As you repeat this process, thoughts are expected to come and go. This is natural. Notice them but do not engage with them. This is also ok if your thoughts pull you out of your meditation. With time you will be able to find more stillness in your mind. The breath is always your home. If your attention wanders off, always come back to the breath.
Continue the process for as long as you like. Slowly open your eyes and notice the energy shift when your time is up. Your mind is quiet, and as thoughts return, they have more clarity.
